Certified organic Emblica officinalis, the Amalaki fruit dried and finely powdered, in a 100 g pouch. The nighantus call it Amrita, nectar, and it is the classical exception among sour substances: markedly Amla in taste yet Sheeta in potency, so it settles Pitta rather than adding to it.

Organic Amalaki Powder is dried Emblica officinalis fruit, milled into a fine churna and chosen for a quality that sets it apart from every other sour fruit: it cools. The nighantus name it Amrita, the nectar of immortality, and Shiva, the auspicious, alongside Amalaki itself, from amala, the stainless. Energetics: Rasa Amla predominant, with five of the six tastes present and only Lavana absent; Guna Laghu and Ruksha; Virya Sheeta; Vipaka Madhura. It settles Pitta above all, and suits all three constitutions.
Ayurvedic Significance
Amla Rasa is ordinarily Ushna, and a sour substance would normally raise Pitta. Amalaki is the classical exception the texts single out: sour on the tongue, yet Sheeta in Virya and Madhura in Vipaka. That combination is what practitioners reach for when Pitta is high but the tissue is already dry, since a plainly cold substance would cool without nourishing and a plainly sour one would nourish while adding heat. Working at Rasa Dhatu, the first and most watery tissue, it keeps the Srotas moist while the sourness holds Agni steady. Nothing is scraped away in the process.
Key Benefits
- Cooling Pitta balance: Sheeta in potency despite its sourness, the exception the classical texts single out.
- Nourishment without heat: settles a raised Pitta while feeding the tissue rather than depleting it.
- Rasa Dhatu moisture: works at the first tissue, keeping the Srotas easy rather than rough.
- Agni held steady: the Amla Rasa keeps digestion bright while the Virya stays cool.
- Compact size: a 100 g pouch, the smaller of the two sizes offered.
Ingredients
Amalaki, Emblica officinalis, fruit - 10 g per 10 g of powder.
Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Dried powdered herb packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.
Suggested Use
Adults, 1 or 2 g twice daily before meals, with honey, ghee or warm water as Anupana. Where cooling is the aim, ghee is the classical carrier and warm rather than cold water is still preferred, since cold liquid dulls Agni. Yashtimadhu Churna is the traditional companion formulation here, sharing the same Madhura and Sheeta character. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to set the serving and the pairing for your constitution.

Additional Information
Amalaki, Amlaki, Amla and Aamla are alternative transliterations of one Sanskrit name into Roman script, and Phyllanthus emblica is the accepted botanical synonym. This is single-fruit powder only, and its natural colour deepens a little with age, which is normal.
