Sri Sri Tattva Talisadi Churna is a classical Ayurvedic powder (Churna) for the chest and digestion. It is named for its chief herb, Talisa (Talisapatra, Abies webbiana), with the suffix adi meaning "and others", and it is one of the most widely used traditional formulations for the respiratory channels.

Ayurvedic Significance

In Ayurveda, a productive cough, chest congestion and a heavy, sluggish feeling are understood largely as aggravated Kapha obstructing the Pranavaha srotas, the channels of breathing, often with weak Agni. Talisadi is a classically Kapha-pacifying and Deepana formulation. Talisapatra supports the chest and comfortable breathing, the Trikatu spices (dry ginger, black pepper and long pepper) are warming and clearing, and the aromatic cardamom and cinnamon freshen and support digestion, while a little sugar balances the warmth. It is regarded as warming, Kapha-clearing and Agni-kindling in nature.

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Respiratory comfort: Traditionally used to support the chest and clear, comfortable breathing.
  • Kapha balance: The warming spices help settle the heaviness of aggravated Kapha.
  • Digestive support: Deepana herbs kindle Agni and support appetite and digestion.
  • Throat comfort: Traditionally valued for a comfortable, clear throat.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Talisapatra (Abies webbiana), the chief herb for the chest
  • Trikatu: Shunti / Vishvabhaishajya (dry ginger), Maricha (black pepper) and Pippali (long pepper)
  • Ela (cardamom) and Twak (cinnamon), with sugar (Sharkara)

Suggested Use

Traditionally, a quarter to half a teaspoon (about 1 to 3g) is taken once or twice daily, or as directed by your physician. The classical Anupana (vehicle) is a little honey or warm water, and for the chest it is often taken with honey. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance.

Safety & Certifications

  • Contains sugar: includes a little sugar, so those managing blood sugar should use it under guidance.
  • Warming formula: being warming and pungent, use in the advised dose; it may aggravate a strongly Pitta constitution.
  • Seek care: a persistent cough, or a cough with fever or breathlessness, should be assessed by a healthcare professional.
  • Seek advice: pregnant or breastfeeding women, and anyone on regular medication, should consult a practitioner first.
  • Quality and storage: manufactured by Sri Sri Tattva to GMP standards; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight with a dry spoon, out of the reach of children.

Additional Information

This formulation is written in several ways, including Talisadi Churna, Talisadi Churnam and Talisadi Choornam. The words Churna, Choorna and powder all refer to the same finely milled form; Talisapatra also appears as Talispatra, and Vishvabhaishajya is a classical name for dry ginger (Shunti). These variations simply reflect different transliterations of the original Sanskrit and regional Indian names into English and refer to the same classical preparation.
