Sri Sri Tattva Haritaki Tablets deliver Terminalia chebula, perhaps the single most celebrated herb in all of Ayurveda, in a convenient tablet. Its Sanskrit name Haritaki is said to come from harate, "that which carries away", a reference to its reputation for carrying away imbalance from the body. It is also called Kayastha, "that which protects the digestive fire", and is the first of the three fruits of Triphala.

Ayurvedic Significance

Haritaki is one of the rare tridoshic herbs, able to help balance all three doshas, though it is above all a Rasayana (rejuvenative) for Vata. Predominantly astringent in taste, with a warming energy and a sweet post-digestive effect (Vipaka), it is classically Deepana and Pachana, kindling Agni and helping to clear Ama, the sticky metabolic residue. It is especially valued for the colon and the Purishavaha srotas, where it supports regular, comfortable elimination, and it is traditionally regarded as gently rejuvenating to the whole digestive system.

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Digestive support: Traditionally used to support comfortable digestion and the absorption of nutrients.
  • Gentle elimination: Classically valued for regulating the colon and supporting regular, natural elimination.
  • Detox support: As a member of Triphala, valued for the natural clearing of Ama.
  • Vata balance: A foremost Rasayana for settling dry, mobile, aggravated Vata.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Ingredients

  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) fruit, the active herb
  • Standard tableting excipients (including starch, dicalcium phosphate, gum arabic, talc and magnesium stearate) with potassium sorbate as a preservative

Suggested Use

Traditionally taken as one to two tablets twice daily, or as directed by your physician; do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The usual Anupana (vehicle) is warm water, and it is classically taken in the evening to support gentle overnight elimination. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance.

Safety & Certifications

  • Contains excipients: includes standard tableting agents and a preservative, so it is not additive-free.
  • Cautions: being gently cleansing, avoid during pregnancy, severe dehydration or extreme depletion.
  • Seek advice: breastfeeding women, and anyone with a digestive condition or taking regular medication, should consult a practitioner before use.
  • Quality: manufactured by Sri Sri Tattva to GMP standards with authentically sourced Haritaki.
  • Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of the reach of children.

Additional Information

This herb is written in several ways, including Haritaki, Harithaki, Haritaky, Harad and Kadukai, and it is known in English as chebulic myrobalan; the botanical name is Terminalia chebula. Haritaki is also the Vata-balancing member of the classical three-fruit blend Triphala (with Amalaki and Bibhitaki). These variations simply reflect different transliterations of the original Sanskrit and regional Indian names into English and refer to the same herb.
