Pippali Whole Long Pepper is the whole, naturally sun-dried fruit of Piper longum, left intact rather than milled, supporting easy digestion and a robust Agni. Sanskrit knows it as Pippali and as Kana, the little one, for the small dark catkin the plant bears; English calls it Indian long pepper. Its energetics are Rasa Katu (pungent), Virya Anushna (mildly warming), Vipaka Madhura (sweet after digestion), pacifying Vata and Kapha and raising Pitta only when overused.

Ayurvedic Significance

Kept whole, Pippali is the form the classical texts assume when they describe the Vardhamana regimen, in which the number of fruits is raised day by day and then tapered back down under a Vaidya's direction. Ayurveda counts it Deepana and Pachana, kindling Agni and helping digestion complete itself, and Rasayana besides, because the Madhura vipaka nourishes where a plain pungent would only stimulate. It acts on the Annavaha and Pranavaha Srotas, and its Tikshna, penetrating quality is what lets so small a fruit reach so far.

Key Benefits

  • Healthy Digestion: whole fruit ground fresh or simmered, the classical way to bring Deepana into a meal.
  • Robust Agni: traditionally added during cooking so the warmth reaches the food itself.
  • Clear, Comfortable Breathing: long valued for keeping the chest and airways feeling open.
  • Rasayana Quality: the sweet Vipaka is what sets Pippali apart from the merely hot spices.
  • Aroma Kept Whole: unmilled fruit holds its volatile character until you grind it.

Ingredients

Pippali, Piper longum, Whole fruit, naturally sun dried. Certified organically grown.

Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Whole dried fruit packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.

Suggested Use

Whole pippali is used three classical ways: ground fresh in a mortar just before use, simmered in water or milk to draw out a decoction, or taken whole in the graduated Pippali Vardhamana regimen, where the count rises and then falls again. It also goes straight into curries, stews and soups during cooking. Chyawanprash is the classical companion in which Pippali already appears. Take the Vardhamana regimen only under a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner's guidance.
