Organic Shallaki Powder is the certified organic oleo-gum resin of Shallaki, milled to a fine churna for everyday joint and muscle comfort. Shallaki is the Sanskrit name of the tree itself, incised at the bark for the fragrant resin the classics call Kunduru, and Ayurveda ranks it among the great resinous dravyas alongside Guggulu. Ayurvedic Energetics: Rasa Tikta, Kashaya and Madhura (bitter, astringent and sweet), Virya Shita (cooling), Vipaka Katu (pungent). It settles Kapha and Vata, while its cooling nature keeps it agreeable to Pitta.
Ayurvedic Significance
Ayurveda reads ease of movement through Vata seated in Asthi and Sandhi, and through Ama, the sticky residue of incomplete digestion, settling in the Srotas. Shallaki is classed as a Kapha-Vata shamaka dravya whose Tikta and Kashaya rasas the Nighantus describe as Amapachana, supporting the body in working through that residue, while its Shita Virya means the action never runs hot. As a resin it is Ruksha and Laghu in Guna, qualities the texts associate with lightening rather than adding. Practitioners place it with the dravyas of Asthivaha and Majjavaha Srotas, taken steadily rather than briefly.
Key Benefits
- Joint and Muscle Comfort: the classical resinous dravya of the Sandhi, taken for everyday ease.
- Ama Balance: Tikta and Kashaya rasas, described in the Nighantus as Amapachana.
- Vata Settling: Kapha-Vata shamaka, addressing the dosha Ayurveda seats in the joints.
- Cooling in Virya: Shita, so it works without adding heat to Pitta.
- Whole Resin, Finely Milled: the oleo-gum resin itself, never an extract or isolate.
Ingredients
10 g of powder contains: Shallaki, Boswellia serrata, Resin - 10 g.
Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Dried powdered herb packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.
Suggested Use
Adults, 1 or 2 g twice daily before meals with honey, ghee or warm water, or as advised by your health practitioner. Warm water suits a Kapha-Vata dravya, and honey carries the astringency well. Yogaraja Guggulu is the traditional companion formulation where Vata and the Sandhi are the focus. Ask a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner what serving and what length of course suit your constitution.

Additional Information
Shallaki is also written Sallaki, Shalaki or Salai, and appears in English as Indian Frankincense. These are transliterations of one Sanskrit name.
