Prasaranyadadi Kashayam Tablets present the classical Prasarinyadi Kashayam in a convenient tablet form. The formulation takes its name from its chief herb, Prasarini (Merremia tridentata), whose Sanskrit name comes from prasarana, meaning to spread, stretch or extend, a fitting description for a plant long associated with restoring easy stretching and movement to stiff, restricted joints. The suffix adi indicates "and other herbs".

Ayurvedic Significance

Stiffness, catching and discomfort in the neck, shoulder and lower back are understood in Ayurveda largely as the work of aggravated Vata drying and constricting the Asthi (bone) and Mamsa (muscle) dhatus and the Snayu (ligaments). Prasarinyadi is a classically Vata pacifying decoction. Its warming, unctuous herbs, combined with Masha (black gram) and Bala for nourishment and strength, are chosen to soothe dry, mobile Vata, kindle Agni and support the smooth, comfortable extension of the joints. It is regarded as Vatahara and Balya (strengthening) in nature.

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Joint mobility: Traditionally used to support the neck, shoulders and lower back and comfortable range of movement.
  • Musculoskeletal comfort: Valued in classical practice for the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue.
  • Vata balance: Warm, nourishing herbs help settle the dryness and irregularity of aggravated Vata.
  • Strength and nourishment: Masha and Bala lend a grounding, Balya quality to the formulation.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Prasarini (Merremia tridentata), the classical spreading, Vata soothing herb
  • Masha (black gram, Vigna mungo), nourishing and strengthening
  • Bala (Sida cordifolia), a renowned Balya and Vata pacifying herb
  • Rasna (Alpinia galanga), Rasona (garlic) and Oushadha (ginger)

Suggested Use

The tablets are traditionally taken as two tablets, once or twice daily before food, or as directed by your physician. The preferred Anupana (vehicle) for this decoction is warm milk, which supports its nourishing, Vata soothing action; warm water may also be used. Ayurvedic tradition favours taking Vata pacifying preparations before meals. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance.

Additional Information

These variations simply reflect different transliterations of the original Sanskrit and regional Indian names into English and refer to the same classical preparation.
