Dhanvantaram Gulika DS is the classical aromatic pill of the Sahasrayogam, built around Jeeraka and a dozen warming spices to support a well kindled Agni and comfortable digestion. The name honours Dhanwantari, the deity of Ayurveda; Gulika means a small rolled pill, and DS marks the double-strength grade. It is one of the oldest Deepana formulas still in daily use, and the pill is small enough to keep within easy reach after a meal.

Ayurvedic Significance

Agni is the pivot of health in Ayurveda, and when it burns low the food sits undigested and turns to Ama. This Gulika is a straightforward Deepana and Pachana answer to that reading. Jeeraka carries the formula, taken as an aqueous extract so that its carminative quality comes through concentrated. Viswa, Ela and Jeenoshna add warmth and aroma to the Annavaha Srotas. Abhaya works as Anulomana toward comfortable regularity, while Kiratika and Bhoonimba lend the bitter note that steadies Pitta.

Key Benefits

  • Kindles Agni: Jeeraka with Viswa and Ela form a classical Deepana pairing for a steady digestive fire.
  • Eases gas and heaviness: the aromatic spices are long valued as carminatives after a heavy or late meal.
  • Supports comfortable regularity: Abhaya acts as Anulomana, encouraging unhurried downward movement.
  • Encourages the natural clearing of Ama: the bitter dravyas Kiratika and Bhoonimba support Pachana in the channels.
  • Refreshes the palate: Karpoora and Ela give the pill its cooling aroma, traditionally welcome after food.

Ingredients

Each tablet is prepared from the powder of Ela (Elettaria cardamomum) seed - 5.48 mg, Viswa (Zingiber officinale) rhizome - 5.48 mg, Abhaya (Terminalia chebula) fruit - 5.48 mg, Ajaji (Apium graveolens) seed - 5.48 mg, Bruhati (Solanum melongena) root - 5.48 mg, Kiratika (Andrographis paniculata) whole plant - 5.48 mg, Jeenoshna (Cubeba officinalis) fruit - 5.48 mg, Bhoonimba (Solanum sp.) root - 5.48 mg, Rudraksha (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) seed - 5.48 mg, Suradaru (Cedrus deodara) heartwood - 5.48 mg, Chandrasoora (Lepidium sativum) seed - 5.48 mg, Karpoora (Cinnamomum camphora) exudate - 5.48 mg, and Grandhika (Curcuma amada) - 5.48 mg, together with the aqueous extract (decoction) of Jeeraka (Cuminum cyminum) fruit - 120 mg. The label cites the Sahasrayogam as its source text.

Suggested Use

One to two tablets twice daily with lukewarm water, after food, or as directed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. The pack faces available carry no printed dosage panel, so this follows the customary serving for a Gulika, and the double-strength grade suits the lower count.

Safety & Certifications

  • Made by AVN Ayurveda Formulations at a WHO GMP certified facility in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Herbs are authentically sourced and identified against the classical descriptions before they enter the batch.
  • Strict quality standards run from raw herb intake through to the finished tablet.
  • Every batch is tested for heavy metals using state-of-the-art ICP-OES equipment.
  • High-tech analytical tools, including HPTLC, are used to standardise each batch.
  • Karpoora, natural camphor, is present in a very small quantity, so keep to the serving on the pack rather than taking extra.
  • This is the double-strength grade, so start at the lower count and let a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner set any increase.
  • During pregnancy and nursing, take it only under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
  • Keep the container tightly closed and store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture, out of reach of children.

Additional Information

The name also appears as Dhanwantaram Gulika, Dhanvantara Gulika, Dhanwantari Gulika and Danwantharam Gutika. Each is a romanisation of the same Sanskrit pairing of Dhanvantari with gulika, a rolled pill, and the Malayalam label prints the same word.
