Ksheerabala Taila is the classical oil of the head. Its name joins Ksheera, milk, to Bala (Sida cordifolia), whose Sanskrit name means strength, and the two together describe the method exactly: Bala decocted in milk, then taken up by a Certified Organic sesame base. Kerala practice reserves it above all for Shirodhara, the unbroken stream of warm oil across the forehead, and for the quiet head massage that follows.
Ayurvedic Significance
The classical texts group the head applications under Murdha Taila, and Ksheerabala sits among the most favoured of them. Shiro Abhyanga, Shiro Pichu and Shirodhara are each a form of Snehana directed at the seat of the Indriyas, the senses. Bala is a Balya and Vatahara dravya, and the sweet, cooling Ksheera tempers its astringency into something mild enough for the scalp. Regular head oleation is held to nourish Ojas and keep the upward Srotas open and unhurried.
Key Benefits
- Made for Shirodhara: fluid, mild and cooling, the qualities the classical stream-pouring therapy asks for.
- Nerve strength: Bala is the classical Balya herb, long chosen where steadiness and resilience are wanted.
- Quietening head massage: Shiro Abhyanga with a cooling taila is the traditional close to a long day.
- Vata balance: grounding and unhurried, answering the dry, mobile quality of a raised Vata.
- Conditioned scalp: leaves the scalp soft, comfortable and free of tightness.
Ingredients
Each 100 ml of Certified Organic Sesame oil (Sesamum indicum), the oil base, is processed with a milk decoction of Bala (Sida cordifolia), root, and Cow's milk (Ksheera).
100% Certified Organic Herbally Infused Oil. Carefully packaged in opaque, light-protective bottles to reduce light exposure and help preserve product quality. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.
Suggested Use
Warm the oil gently and work it into the scalp with slow fingertip circles, then down the neck and shoulders. Leave thirty minutes, then wash out with warm water and a mild cleanser. Balaswagandhadi Taila is a good companion for head work. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
