Nagarjuna Ksheerabala Aavarthi 101 is a refined, deeply Vata-pacifying oil in which Bala is processed with cow's milk and sesame oil many times over. Its core purpose is to nourish and steady the nerves, muscles and joints. The name joins Ksheera (milk) and Bala (the herb Sida cordifolia); Aavarthi refers to the number of processings, so "101" means the oil has been cooked with the milky Bala decoction one hundred and one times, the grade used for internal support under guidance.

Ayurvedic Significance

Bala is one of Ayurveda's premier Vata-pacifying and Balya (strengthening) herbs, and repeated processing in Ksheera (milk) and Tila Taila makes this oil especially fine and nourishing to Majja Dhatu and the nervous tissue. The 101-times grade is traditionally taken in very small internal amounts, as well as applied externally, to calm aggravated Vata, tone the nerves and support steady muscle strength. It is a classical choice where the body feels depleted, dry or over-worked.

Key Benefits

  • Deep Vata pacification: repeated milk-and-oil processing makes this a refined, calming Vata oil.
  • Nourishes the nerves: traditionally used to tone and steady the nervous system.
  • Supports muscle strength: Bala is a classical Balya herb for the muscles.
  • Soothes tired joints: valued where the body feels dry, stiff or fatigued.
  • Versatile use: taken in small internal amounts under guidance, or applied externally.

Suggested Use

For internal use, a few drops are traditionally taken with warm milk or warm water as the Anupana (vehicle); it is also used externally for gentle massage. Because the internal use of this refined oil is dose-sensitive, the amount, timing and duration should be determined by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to suit your constitution (Prakriti).

Safety & Certifications

  • Prepared by the traditional Taila Paka method with repeated Ksheera processing, from authentically sourced Bala.
  • Manufactured by Nagarjuna to strict Ayurvedic quality standards in a GMP-certified facility.
  • Internal use is best guided by a qualified practitioner; pregnant or nursing women, and those under professional care, should seek guidance first.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Additional Information

Written as Ksheerabala Aavarthi 101, Ksheerabala 101 Avarti and Ksheerabala (101). The number denotes the Aavarthi, or count of processings; higher counts give a finer oil. The medicated oil form appears as Taila, Tailam or Thailam. These are different transliterations from Sanskrit and regional Indian languages for the same preparation.
