Rasnasaptak Kashayam by Maharishi Ayurveda is the classical seven-herb decoction led by Rasna with Guduchi, Devadaru, Gokshura, Eranda and companions. It is traditionally taken to ease discomfort in the lower back, hips and joints, to clear the Ama that stiffens them, and to support flexible, easy movement. The name Saptak means “the seven,” Rasna and her six classical companions.

Ayurvedic Significance

This is one of the classics' most quoted recipes for Katigraha (the gripped low back) and for Vata in the joints. Rasna calms the dosha, Guduchi and Devadaru digest the Ama riding with it, Eranda warms and frees movement, and Gokshura keeps the channels flowing.

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Back comfort: traditionally taken for the stiff, aching lower back and hips.
  • Joint ease: valued for comfortable, mobile joints through the day.
  • Ama clearing: classically digests the residues behind heavy stiffness.
  • Flexibility: supports easy bending, walking and everyday movement.
  • Vata balance: Rasna leads the calming of the aggravated dosha.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata): the prime Vata-calming herb.
  • Guduchi and Devadaru: the Ama-digesting pair.
  • Gokshura, Eranda and companions: channel-clearing and warming supports.

Suggested Use

A common recommendation is 15 ml diluted with 60 ml of boiled, cooled water, twice daily before food, or as directed by a qualified practitioner.

Safety & Certifications

  • Traditional decoction: a concentrated Kashayam; always dilute as directed.
  • Quality standards: manufactured by Maharishi Ayurveda in GMP-certified facilities.
  • Medical care: back pain with numbness or weakness needs prompt medical assessment.
  • Pregnancy and lactation: if pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a qualified practitioner before use.
