Sitopaladi Churna is the gentlest of the classical churnas, a sweet, aromatic powder led by rock candy and completed by bamboo manna, long pepper, cardamom and cinnamon. Its name joins Sitopala, Sanskrit for rock sugar, to adi, meaning and the others, so the formula is named for its first ingredient. Energetics: Rasa Madhura, Virya Shita, Vipaka Madhura. It calms Vata and Pitta while its spices keep Kapha moving.
Ayurvedic Significance
Where most Kapha-balancing formulas work by drying, Sitopaladi works by softening. Vamshalochana, the silica-rich manna of the bamboo, is classically described as Shita and Madhura and is directed to the Rasa and Mamsa Dhatus, while the smaller proportions of Pippali, Ela and Twak lend just enough Ushna to keep the Srotas moving. Practitioners regard the combination as Ojas-supportive, since it nourishes without creating heaviness, and vaidyas often reach for it at the turn of a season.
Key Benefits
- Comfortable Throat: a sweet, cooling churna traditionally chosen when the throat wants soothing rather than stimulating.
- Easy Seasonal Breathing: long favoured at the turn of a season, when Kapha rises and the chest feels less light.
- Nourishment Without Heaviness: a Brimhana quality that builds Rasa Dhatu while the spices keep the formula from cloying.
- Ojas Support: the Madhura rasa of Sitopala and Vamshalochana is classically linked to steadiness and resilience.
Ingredients
Each 10 g of powder contains: Rock candy (Sitopala) - 5.2 g, Bamboo manna (Vamshalochana), Bambusa arundinacea - 2.6 g, Long pepper (Pippali), Piper longum, fruit - 1.30 g, Cardamom (Ela), Elettaria cardamomum, seed - 600 mg, Cinnamon (Twak), Cinnamomum zeylanicum, stem bark - 300 mg. The herbs are certified organically grown.

Suggested Use
Take ½ to 1 teaspoon with honey or a little ghee, two or three times daily after meals. Sitopaladi is sweet and mild and is customarily given at a fuller amount than the pungent churnas; honey is its classical Anupana. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for dosage and duration suited to your constitution (Prakriti).

Additional Information

Vamshalochana, the second ingredient, is the natural siliceous manna that forms inside bamboo stems and is often listed as bamboo manna.
