Organic Neem Powder is certified organic Nimba, the herb Ayurveda turns to first when the aim is healthy, clear skin. The Sanskrit name Nimba is traditionally derived from nimbati svasthyam dadati, that which bestows good health, and the tree is also called Arishta, the one that stays unharmed. Ayurvedic Energetics: Rasa Tikta and Kashaya (bitter and astringent), Virya Shita (cooling), Vipaka Katu (pungent). Nimba reduces Pitta and Kapha and can raise Vata, so it is balanced with a suitable Anupana.

Ayurvedic Significance

Tikta rasa is the taste Ayurveda associates with lightness, dryness and clarity, and Nimba is its foremost representative. Its Shita Virya settles the heat of Pitta, while its Ruksha quality answers the dampness of Kapha, the pairing that classical practice links to Twacha, the skin, and to the Rasa and Rakta Dhatus that nourish it. Working through Rasavaha and Svedavaha Srotas, it is described as Kandughna and Lekhana, scraping in nature rather than nourishing. Because Tikta rasa also increases Vata over time, the classics pair Nimba with unctuous carriers rather than taking it dry.

Key Benefits

  • Healthy, Clear Skin: the classical Twachya dravya, supporting the natural clarity of the complexion.
  • Pitta Balance: Shita in Virya, so it settles the warmth that Ayurveda reads as excess Pitta.
  • Kapha Balance: Ruksha and Laghu in quality, countering damp, heavy accumulation.
  • Rakta Dhatu Support: traditionally taken to keep the blood tissue in healthy balance.
  • Bitter Taste in the Diet: restores Tikta rasa, the taste most often missing from modern food.

Ingredients

10 g of powder contains: Nimba (Neem), Azadirachta indica, Stem Bark - 10 g.

Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Dried powdered herb packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.

Suggested Use

Adults, 1 or 2 g twice daily before meals with honey, ghee or warm water, or as advised by your health practitioner. Honey is the usual Anupana where Kapha predominates, and ghee where the dryness of Nimba needs tempering. Classical practice pairs it with Mahamanjishthadi Kwatha where the focus is Rakta Dhatu and the skin. Because Nimba is markedly bitter and drying, ask a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner how long to continue.

  • Storage: keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, closed tightly, and use a dry spoon.

Additional Information

Nimba is also written Nimb, Nim or Neemba, and appears as Arishta and Picumarda. These are different transliterations of one Sanskrit dravya rather than different herbs. Its taste is frankly bitter, so most people take it with a carrier rather than alone.
