Eladi Ghana Churnam is the classical aromatic powder of the Eladi group, led by Ela (cardamom) with cinnamon, Nagakesara and the warming pepper-family spices. It is traditionally used both externally, made into a paste with milk or oil and applied to the skin, and internally with buttermilk, to soothe itchy, irritated or rash-prone skin and to support a clear, comfortable, fresh skin surface. The name means “cardamom and companions,” after Ela, the fragrant lead.
Ayurvedic Significance
The Eladi Gana of the classical texts is prescribed for the surface troubles of the skin, the itching, rashes and dullness, its aromatic herbs clearing Kapha dampness while gently supporting the complexion. Used within, it steadies the same over-reactive tendency; used without, it works where the trouble lives, on the skin itself.
Traditional Uses and Benefits
- Itch soothing: traditionally applied to calm itchy, irritated skin.
- Rash comfort: valued for rash-prone, reactive patches.
- Surface clarity: supports a clear, even, comfortable skin surface.
- Freshness: the aromatic herbs keep the skin fresh and healthy.
- Inside and out: used both as a paste and, under guidance, internally.
These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Additional Information
Also written as Eladi Churnam, Eladi Ghana Churnam or Ealaadi Ghana Choornam. The word Choornam appears as Churna, Choorna or Choornam, and Ghana denotes a concentrated form; these are simply different transliterations from Sanskrit and regional Indian languages for the same classical powder.
