Kankayan Gulika is the tablet form of the classical Kankayan Vati, built on Hingu (asafoetida), Chitraka, Danti and Trivrit with Shati, Pushkaramoola and warming digestive spices. It is traditionally taken to comfort the lower digestive passage, to ease gas, bloating and abdominal heaviness, and to keep elimination soft and regular, while kindling the dull digestion beneath. The formula is named for the sage Kankayana, its classical author.
Ayurvedic Significance
The classics trace trouble at the body's lower outlet, which they call Arsha, to strained Apana Vata and dull Agni. Kankayana's answer warms and moves: Hingu and the spices disperse trapped wind and rekindle the fire, while Trivrit and Danti keep the downward path soft, sparing the passage its straining.
Traditional Uses and Benefits
- Passage comfort: traditionally taken to ease discomfort and heaviness at the lower outlet.
- Gas relief: Hingu classically disperses trapped wind and colicky discomfort.
- Regular elimination: the gentle movers keep the bowels soft and regular.
- Digestive kindling: rekindles the dull Agni that underlies the pattern.
- Apana Vata balance: steadies the downward energy that governs elimination.
These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.
