Sesame Oil CERTIFIED ORGANIC is Gopala Ayurveda's 200 ml cold pressed Tila Taila, and this is the bottle to reach for when the weather turns. Ritucharya, the Ayurvedic seasonal routine, changes the oil as the year changes, and sesame is what it names for the cold, dry, windy months when the body wants weight and warmth rather than lightness. It is the plain counterpart to coconut, chosen by season rather than by preference.

Ayurvedic Significance

Sharad, Hemanta and Shishira, the cool seasons, are when Vata accumulates and then rises. Vata is ruksha, sheeta, laghu and chala, dry, cold, light and unsteady. Tila Taila answers each of those directly: ushna in virya, guru and snigdha in guna, warming, heavy and unctuous. Applied as Abhyanga it settles the Vayu that governs movement, gives Twak Dhatu the Sneha the season strips away, and leaves the body feeling anchored rather than scattered. Season, not habit, decides which oil you reach for.

Key Benefits

  • Grounded Steadiness: Warm, heavy and unctuous, the qualities classical practice reaches for when everything feels light, dry and unsettled.
  • The Cold Season Oil of Ritucharya: Ayurveda expects the massage oil to change with the year, and sesame is the one named for autumn and winter.
  • Answers Winter Dryness: The season strips unctuousness from the skin, and a heavy oil is the direct reply to that.
  • The Counterpart to Coconut: Keep both and alternate, sesame through the cold months and coconut through the heat, which is how Ritucharya was meant to work.
  • One Ingredient, Cold Pressed: Nothing blended in, no fragrance and no preservative, pressed at low temperature from certified organic seed.

Ingredients

Sesame (Sesamum indicum), seed - the whole of each 100 ml is high grade, cold pressed, certified organic sesame oil. No second ingredient is present. Contains sesame.

100% Certified Organic Cold Pressed Oil. Carefully packaged in opaque, light-protective bottles to reduce light exposure and help preserve product quality. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.

Suggested Use

Warm the oil to blood heat. Massage into the whole body, working the limbs, lower back and feet with particular attention, and leave twenty minutes before a warm bath. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for guidance suited to your constitution.

Safety & Certifications

  • Contains sesame, a major food allergen: Sesame is one of the major food allergens recognised in the United States under the FASTER Act. This product is 100% sesame oil. Anyone with a sesame allergy should not use it, on the skin or in food.
  • Suitable for the kitchen as well as the body: Gopala directs this cold pressed oil for use in cooking or as a body massage oil. Both uses are intended, so choose whichever suits you, or keep a separate bottle for each.
  • Manufactured in WHO GMP certified units under strict quality standards at every stage of pressing, filtering and filling.
  • Ethically harvested and responsibly sourced from certified organic farms.
  • Certified by ECOCERT SAS, France, in accordance with the USDA Organic Regulations (7 CFR Part 205).
  • Free from pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, irradiation, chemical fertilizers, synthetic additives, artificial preservatives and chemical processing agents.
  • No Heavy Metals, No Sugar, No Corn, No Soya, No Gelatin.
  • Patch test before first use: apply a small amount to the inner forearm and wait twenty four hours before wider application.
  • Dosha guidance: warming, heavy and grounding, so it suits Vata constitutions and the cold, dry seasons. In high summer, or for a strongly Pitta constitution, coconut oil is usually the better seasonal choice, and qualified practitioner guidance will settle it.
  • Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap closed.

A companion practice: pair the oiling with the rest of cold season Ritucharya, warm cooked food, earlier nights and less exposure to wind, since the oil is one part of a seasonal routine rather than the whole of it. Where a practitioner wants a herbal oil for the cold months, Ksheerabala Taila is the classical sesame based formulation usually chosen alongside it.
