Raasneirandaadi Kashayam Tablets offer the classical Rasna Erandadi Kashayam in a convenient tablet form. The name is drawn from its two chief herbs: Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), the foremost herb for musculoskeletal Vata, and Eranda (the castor plant), joined by the suffix adi meaning "and others". It is a widely used South Indian Ayurvedic decoction for the lower back and joints.

Ayurvedic Significance

Ayurveda understands stiffness, catching and discomfort in the lower back, flanks and joints as aggravated Vata, sometimes carrying Ama, moving through the Asthi (bone) and Mamsa (muscle) dhatus. Rasna Erandadi is a classically Vatahara decoction. Rasna and Eranda are among the most respected herbs for Vata-driven joint discomfort, while Bala, Vasa and Amruta add strength and support the clearing of Ama. The formulation is warming, unctuous and Vata-soothing in nature, directed at restoring free, comfortable movement.

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Lower back comfort: Traditionally taken to support the lumbar region and flanks where Vata gathers.
  • Joint ease: Rasna and Eranda are classical herbs for Vata-driven joint discomfort.
  • Vata balance: The warming herbs help settle the dryness and irregularity of aggravated Vata.
  • Ama clearing: Amruta and ginger support the natural clearing of Ama from the joints.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), the foremost musculoskeletal Vata herb
  • Eranda (Ricinus communis), the castor plant valued in Vata disorders
  • Bala (Sida cordifolia) and Sahachara (Barleria prionitis)
  • Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Amruta (Tinospora cordifolia) and ginger

Suggested Use

The tablets are traditionally taken as two tablets, once or twice daily before food, or as directed by your physician. The classical Anupana (vehicle) for this decoction is warm water, and traditionally it is taken with a little ghee and sesame oil to support its Vata-soothing, unctuous action. Ayurvedic tradition favours taking it before meals. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance.

  • Seek advice: pregnant or breastfeeding women, and anyone with an ongoing health condition or taking regular medication, should seek professional advice before use.

Additional Information

This formulation is written in many ways, including Raasneirandaadi, Rasnairandadi, Rasna Erandadi, Rasnaerandadi and Rasnairanda Kashayam. The words Kashayam, Kashaya, Kwath and Kwatham all describe a traditional herbal decoction, Rasna also appears as Raasna, and Eranda as Erandadi or Irandadi. These variations simply reflect different transliterations of the original Sanskrit and regional Indian names into English and refer to the same classical preparation.
