Baidyanath Dashamularishta is a classical fermented Ayurvedic tonic (Arishta) from Baidyanath, one of India's most respected Ayurvedic houses. Its name comes from Dashamula, the celebrated "ten roots" that form its base, and Arishta, a self-fermented herbal preparation. It is one of the most widely used strengthening tonics in Ayurveda, particularly valued after childbirth and during recovery.

Ayurvedic Significance

In Ayurveda, tiredness, weakness and depletion after childbirth or illness are understood as aggravated Vata with reduced Agni and depleted dhatus. Dashamularishta is a classically Vatahara (Vata-pacifying), Deepana and Balya (strengthening) tonic. The Dashamula, the ten great roots, are the foremost Vata-soothing group, while the natural fermentation makes the herbal actives readily absorbed and gently kindles Agni. It is traditionally regarded as warming, strengthening and rebuilding, and is a mainstay of postnatal care (Sutika Paricharya).

Traditional Uses and Benefits

  • Strength and recovery: Traditionally used to rebuild strength during recovery and after childbirth.
  • Vata balance: The ten roots settle the dryness and depletion of aggravated Vata.
  • Digestive support: The fermented tonic gently kindles Agni and supports appetite.
  • Everyday vitality: Valued as a general restorative tonic for tiredness and debility.

These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Dashamula, the ten classical roots (including Bilva, Agnimantha, Shyonaka, Gambhari, Patala, Shalaparni, Prishniparni, Brihati, Kantakari and Gokshura)
  • Supporting herbs and aromatics with jaggery (Guda) as the fermentation base
  • Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa) flowers, the traditional fermenting agent

Suggested Use

Traditionally taken as 15 to 30ml, usually diluted with an equal quantity of water, once or twice daily after food, or as directed by your physician. The equal measure of water is the classical Anupana (vehicle). Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance, particularly during the postnatal period.

Safety & Certifications

  • Naturally fermented: contains a small amount of self-generated alcohol from traditional fermentation; take diluted with water and not on an empty stomach.
  • Contains jaggery: those managing their blood sugar should use it under guidance.
  • Seek advice: pregnant women, and anyone with an ongoing health condition or taking regular medication, should consult a practitioner before use; postnatal use is best guided by a practitioner.
  • Quality: manufactured by Baidyanath to GMP standards with authentically sourced herbs.
  • Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; supplied in a plastic bottle. Keep out of the reach of children.

Additional Information

This product is written in several ways, including Dashamularishta, Dashmularishta, Dasamoolarishtam and Dashamoolarishta. The words Arishta, Arishtam and Aristha all refer to a classical fermented herbal preparation, and Dashamula ("ten roots") also appears as Dasamoola. These variations simply reflect different transliterations of the original Sanskrit and regional Indian names into English and refer to the same classical preparation.
