Trayodashang Guggulu
The Sanskrit word 'Trayodashanga' means thirteen ingredients, including Guggulu. This is a very comprehensive formulation, helpful in vata diseases of both, srotorodha i.e. aggravation of vata because of obstructive aetiology and dhatukshaya i.e. aggravation of vata because of depletion of tissues.
Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Guduchi and Babbula nourish the tissues and alleviate vata dosha. Whereas, Guggulu, Guduchi and Babbula digest the ama and open up the subtle channels, relieve the obstruction and alleviate the vata dosha. The ingredients like Rasna, Vruddhadaru, Ashwagandha and Mishreya relieve the oedema and Parsik yavani, Guduchi and Rasna work well to reduce the pains. The diuretic property of Hapusha, Gokshura, Mishreya and Ashwagandha help reducing oedema and pacify vata dosha.
Trayodashanga guggulu is highly recommended in gout, rheumatic fever, lumbago, sciatica, joint disorders, vaginal diseases and fractures.
The Balya Guggulkalpa formulated with 'Kuttan' Sanskar specially in Goghruta is effective in Dhatukshayajanya Vatavikar.
