Organic Kutaja Powder is a bitter, astringent bark churna traditionally taken for comfortable digestion and steady Kapha and Pitta balance. The Sanskrit name Kutaja means born of the mountain, after the hillsides where the tree grows; classical sources also call it Vatsaka and Kalinga, and its seed carries the separate name Indrayava. Ayurvedic energetics: Rasa Tikta and Kashaya, Virya Shita, Vipaka Katu. Light, dry and cooling, it settles Kapha and Pitta and may raise Vata.

Ayurvedic Significance

Classical Ayurvedic sources describe Kutaja as Grahi, a term for herbs whose astringent, absorbing quality helps the digestive channel hold and settle rather than lose its content. Its Tikta and Kashaya rasas with a light, dry quality answer excess Kapha, while the Shita virya moderates Pitta heat carried in the Annavaha and Purishavaha srotas. The Katu vipaka supports Agni, and a steady Agni is the classical condition for Ama not accumulating. Practitioners value the bark for short, considered courses rather than open-ended daily use.

Key Benefits

  • Comfortable Digestion: A classical bark churna taken to support a settled, unhurried digestive rhythm.
  • Grahi, the Absorbing Quality: The astringent character classical texts describe as helping the digestive channel hold and settle.
  • Kapha and Pitta Balance: Bitter and astringent tastes with a cooling potency answer both dampness and heat.
  • Agni Support: A pungent post-digestive effect that supports the digestive fire so residue is less able to gather.
  • A Considered, Short-Course Herb: Traditionally taken in defined courses under guidance rather than indefinitely.

Ingredients

Each 10 g of powder contains: Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica), bark - 10 g.

Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Dried powdered herb packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Herbs are ethically harvested using traditional harvesting techniques at peak maturity, helping ensure maximum potency, nutrition and energetic integrity.

Suggested Use

Adults, 1 or 2 g twice daily before meals, taken with jaggery and milk as the anupana. That sweet, unctuous carrier softens the bark's dry, astringent character and keeps Vata settled.
