Organic Gurmar Powder is a bitter, astringent leaf churna traditionally taken to support healthy sugar metabolism and Kapha balance. Its Sanskrit name Meshashringi means ram's horn, after the curved shape of the fruit, while the common name Gurmar translates literally as destroyer of sweetness, a traditional name of long standing. Ayurvedic energetics: Rasa Tikta, Katu and Kashaya, Virya Ushna, Vipaka Katu. Light and dry, it settles Kapha and Pitta and may raise Vata in excess.

Ayurvedic Significance

Ayurvedic authors place Gurmar among the Kapha-reducing dravyas, valued for a bitter and astringent taste with a light, dry quality that answers heaviness and dampness in the tissues. Its Ushna virya and Katu vipaka support Agni and the Pachana action that meets Ama, and practitioners direct it to the Medovaha srotas, the channels associated with the fat tissue. Because the bitter taste is drying, classical use pairs it with unctuous anupanas so that Vata is not disturbed. It is a herb of steady, patient use rather than quick results.

Key Benefits

  • Healthy Sugar Metabolism: Traditionally taken to support the body's own handling of sweet foods within a balanced diet.
  • Kapha Balance: Bitter and astringent tastes with light, dry qualities answer the heaviness of a Kapha-dominant state.
  • Digestive Fire and Ama: A warming vipaka that supports Agni and the Pachana action classical texts describe.
  • Medovaha Srotas Support: Directed by practitioners to the channels associated with the fat tissue.
  • Mindful Eating Habits: A traditional companion to a settled daily routine and a considered approach to sweet foods.

Ingredients

Each 10 g of powder contains: Gurmar (Gymnema sylvestre), leaf - 10 g.

Pure, Organically grown, Unprocessed, Dried powdered herb packed in air-tight zip locked Kraft pouch to maintain aroma and freshness. All certified organic Gopala Herbs are sourced from jungle farms in South India, located in the biodiverse Western Ghats where plants naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents. Suggested Use

Adults, 1 or 2 g twice daily before meals, taken with jaggery and milk as the anupana. That sweet, unctuous carrier balances the herb's bitter, drying character and keeps Vata settled.
