Manasmitra Vatakam by Nagarjuna is one of Ayurveda's most elaborate classical formulas for the mind, prepared from a combination of seventy-three ingredients. Alongside Medhya (intellect-nourishing) herbs such as Shankhpushpi, Brahmi and Vacha, it carries gold (Swarna Bhasma), silver (Rajata Bhasma), coral, pearl and other traditionally processed minerals. Because of its potency and its precious ingredients, it is used strictly under the supervision of an Ayurvedic physician, to steady the mind, support clarity, memory and speech, and nourish the nervous system. The name means “the friend of the mind.”
Ayurvedic Significance
The classics place unsteady, scattered or anxious mental states under disturbances of Prana Vata, Sadhaka Pitta and Manas (the mind), and reserve their deepest formulas, those carrying gold, silver and gems, for physician-guided care. Gold and silver are classically Medhya and Balya, nourishing intellect and strength and feeding Ojas, the essence of stability. Manasmitra Vatakam gathers this wisdom into a single, carefully prepared tablet.
Traditional Uses and Benefits
- Mind steadiness: traditionally used to support a calm, settled and clear mind.
- Clarity and memory: valued for supporting concentration, memory and learning.
- Speech support: classically used to support clear, confident speech.
- Nervine nourishment: the formula nourishes the nerves and feeds Ojas.
- Physician-guided care: the traditional anchor of supervised mind-wellness regimens.
These reflect traditional Ayurvedic uses and are not statements of medical effect.
Key Ingredients
- Medhya herbs such as Shankhpushpi, Brahmi, Vacha and Ashwagandha.
- Swarna (gold) and Rajata (silver) Bhasma with coral, pearl and processed minerals.
- Aromatic and nervine classics among the seventy-three ingredients, with milk in the processing.
Suggested Use
Take only as directed by a qualified Ayurvedic physician, who will set the dose (commonly 1 to 2 tablets once or twice daily, traditionally with milk as the Anupana) and duration. This is not a formula for self-medication, and overdosing should be avoided.
Safety & Certifications
- Physician supervision essential: a herbo-mineral formula containing gold, silver and processed minerals; use only under strict professional supervision. Overdose may cause a burning sensation in the stomach.
- Do not stop prescribed medicines: mental health conditions need ongoing medical care; use this only as physician-guided traditional support, never as a replacement.
- Traditional preparation: made to classical method by Nagarjuna with authentically sourced herbs and classically purified minerals.
- Quality standards: produced in GMP-certified facilities under strict quality control.
- Pregnancy and lactation: use in these periods only under practitioner direction.
- Storage: store in a cool, dry place, tightly closed, out of reach of children.
Additional Information
Also written as Manasamitra Vatakam, Manasamitra Gulika, Manasa Mitra Vatakam or Manasmitra Vati. The word Vatakam (or Vati, Gulika) denotes a tablet or pill; these are simply different transliterations from Sanskrit and regional Indian languages for the same classical formulation, which is prepared here with gold.
