Medohar Guggulu takes its name from two Sanskrit words: Meda, the adipose tissue of Ayurvedic physiology, and hara, to carry away. The classical texts group it with the Lekhana preparations, the scraping formulations. Purified Guggulu resin sits at its centre, supported by Triphala, Trikatu, Musta, Chitraka and Vidanga in a 500mg tablet. The tablets are uncoated and binder-free.
Ayurvedic Significance
Ayurveda reads a sluggish Meda dhatu as a Kapha matter compounded by weak Agni. When the digestive fire runs low, Ama accumulates and the Medovaha srotas grow congested. Medohar Guggulu answers both halves of that picture. Trikatu and Chitraka supply the Deepana and Pachana action that lifts Agni, while the Guggulu resin brings its characteristic Lekhana quality to the channels. Musta and Vidanga steady digestion further, and Triphala keeps elimination regular so that what is loosened actually leaves the system.
Key Benefits
- Supports Healthy Weight Already Within a Normal Range — the classical Lekhana approach works alongside a sensible diet and regular movement rather than in place of them.
- Supports Kapha and Meda Balance — the warming, drying character of the formula is directed at exactly the qualities Kapha tends to accumulate.
- Supports Healthy Metabolism — Trikatu and Chitraka kindle Agni, and in Ayurvedic thinking a steady Agni is the foundation of sound metabolic function.
- Supports the Natural Clearing of Ama — Guggulu scrapes at the residue of incomplete digestion so it does not settle into the channels.
- Supports Comfortable Regularity — the Triphala base and a touch of Eranda taila keep elimination gentle and unhurried throughout a course.
Ingredients
Each 500mg tablet contains — Shuddha Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), purified oleo-gum resin; Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), fruit rind; Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), fruit rind; Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), fruit; Shunthi (Zingiber officinale), rhizome; Maricha (Piper nigrum), fruit; Pippali (Piper longum), fruit; Musta (Cyperus rotundus), rhizome; Chitraka mula (Plumbago zeylanica), root; Vidanga (Embelia ribes), fruit; Eranda taila (Ricinus communis), seed oil.
Binder-Free Formulation — these tablets are compressed without the use of synthetic binding agents or artificial stabilizers.
Formulated according to the traditional principles of Ayurveda.
All Prana Ayurveda herbs are sourced from select wild regions of India, where they naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents.
Suggested Use
Adults may take one to two 500mg tablets twice daily, taken after meals. Warm water is the customary Anupana and suits the warming, scraping character of the formula. Traditional practice pairs the formulation with light, freshly cooked food and daily movement. Give it several weeks of steady use. For dosage and duration suited to your constitution (Prakriti), consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
Safety & Certifications
- GMP Certified — produced in a GMP-certified facility under documented quality controls at every stage.
- Traditional Preparation — the Guggulu is purified by classical Shodhana methods before the herb powders and Eranda taila are blended and compressed.
- Authentic Sourcing — each botanical is identified and harvested at maturity, then verified before it enters the batch.
- Pure, Uncoated & Binder-Free — nothing is added to hold the tablet together and no coating is applied.
- Vegan — entirely plant and resin derived, including the Eranda taila, with no dairy, honey or animal-origin material.
- Non-GMO — no genetically modified crop material is used.
- Sustainably Sourced — wild-harvested by traditional methods that allow the parent stands to regenerate.
- No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
- Free from synthetic stabilizers.
- Free from added sugar, gluten, soya, corn and peanuts.
- Pregnancy and nursing — speak with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before beginning any Guggulu formulation during pregnancy or while nursing.
- Dosha note — strongly Kapha-reducing and warming by nature. A markedly Pitta constitution may prefer the smaller serving with a cooling Anupana, and those with light, dry Vata should take it with food.
- Storage — keep tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
- Manufactured in WHO GMP-certified facilities, every Prana Ayurveda formulation honors classical Ayurvedic wisdom while meeting modern quality and safety standards.
Additional Information
Guggul, Guggulu and Gulgulu are different transliterations of one Sanskrit word, and the formulation appears variously as Medohar, Medohara or Medoharam Guggulu. Tablet forms are sometimes labelled Vati or Vatika. All name the same classical preparation. Note that this pack is compressed at 500mg per tablet, which differs from the heavier Guggulu tablets elsewhere in the range.
