Nagarjuna Mahaaraajaprasaarani Thailam is a rich, classical Vata oil built around Prasarini with a large group of strengthening and Vata-pacifying herbs in a sesame base. Its core purpose is to nourish and soothe the nerves, muscles and joints. The name joins Maharaja (great king), Prasarani (Paederia foetida, a premier Vata herb) and Thailam (medicated oil), marking it as a "royal" grade of the Prasarani oils.

Ayurvedic Significance

This is a powerful Vata-Hara (Vata-pacifying) oil from the Kerala tradition, prepared through an elaborate process with plant decoctions, milk and sour liquids. Prasarini is classically valued for the joints and nerves, and it is joined by Bala, Rasna, Ashwagandha and Sahachara, among many others, to soothe stiffness, tone the muscles and support comfortable movement. Applied as Abhyanga, and taken internally in small amounts under guidance, it is a traditional choice for a wide range of Vata-related concerns.

Key Benefits

  • Strong Vata support: Prasarini with Bala and Rasna is a classical combination for aggravated Vata.
  • Soothes muscles and joints: traditionally used where the body feels stiff, tense or tired.
  • Nourishes the nerves: the herbs tone and steady the nervous system.
  • Comforting Abhyanga oil: well suited to warm oil massage over the body.
  • Time-honoured recipe: a richly built oil from the classical Kerala tradition.
