Jivanti Powder (225g) is the finely milled whole plant and root of Leptadenia reticulata, the classical herb whose Sanskrit name means that which sustains life. Its Rasa is sweet, its Virya is Sheeta or cooling, and its Vipaka is sweet, giving it a gentle tridoshic character that suits nearly every constitution. Charaka placed Jivanti at the head of the Jivaniya gana, the group of life-giving herbs, and Ayurveda has treasured it ever since as a nourishing Rasayana for steady strength.

Ayurvedic Significance

Classical texts describe Jivanti as Balya and Rasayana, building Ojas and nourishing the deeper dhatus, particularly Rasa, Rakta and Shukra. Its sweet, cooling quality pacifies Pitta without disturbing Vata, which is why vaidyas favour it during convalescence, after heavy exertion and through periods of depletion. It works quietly on the Rasavaha srotas, supporting the nourishment that reaches every tissue. Sweet in Vipaka, it is Jivaniya in the truest sense, sustaining vitality rather than forcing it, and it appears in Chyawanprash and other revered restorative preparations.

Key Benefits

  • Strength and stamina: A classical Balya herb, traditionally taken to rebuild physical strength and steady day-to-day energy.
  • Rasayana nourishment: Among the foremost Jivaniya herbs, valued for deep tissue nourishment and graceful ageing.
  • Ojas and resilience: Traditionally used to build Ojas, the subtle essence that underlies vigour and natural resistance.
  • Cooling and gentle: Sweet Rasa with Sheeta Virya settles excess Pitta while remaining kind to Vata, making it broadly tridoshic.
  • Eye comfort: Ayurveda regards Jivanti as Chakshushya, a traditional supporter of the eyes and comfortable vision.
