Copper is a very sensitive metal which oxidizes very quickly even on the slightest exposure to environment. Good news is this greenish / brownish tarnish stains can be removed with little salt in the lemon juice or Vinegar. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle salt onto the lemon. Massage the lemon wedge onto the copper, squeezing the juice out until the tarnish is buffed off. Add more salt to the lemon during the process. Rinse well with water and let dry. Lemon Juice has a citric acid in it which eats away copper oxide leaving only copper. Or you can Rub a mixture of 1 spoon of table salt and 1 cup of white vinegar onto the copper with a soft cloth and rinse.
