BRAHMI AMLA OIL is a herbally infused Taila made in the classical way, by simmering seven wildcrafted botanicals into a base of natural Sesame Oil (Tila taila). Amalaki and Brahmi lead the blend, joined by Bhringraj, Musta, Kapurkachari and the fragrant Ela and Taruni. Applied externally to the head and worked into the scalp, it is the traditional companion to a daily hair routine, supporting natural thickness, colour and shine while leaving the hair soft and well conditioned.

Ayurvedic Significance

Classical Ayurveda places head oiling, Murdha Taila, among the daily observances of Dinacharya. Applied over the Shiras, the seat of Prana and the sense organs, oil pacifies Vata, cools accumulated Pitta and settles the mind before rest. Sesame oil is the traditional carrier because of its capacity to travel through the fine channels, the Romakupa and Siro-srotas, carrying the qualities of the infused herbs to the roots of the hair. Bhringraj and Amalaki are the classical Keshya botanicals, while Brahmi and Musta add their cooling, Medhya character.

Key Benefits

  • Supports natural hair thickness and shine: Regular Shiro Abhyanga with a Keshya oil is the classical way of conditioning the hair from the roots outward.
  • Nourishes the scalp: The Sesame base carries Amalaki, Bhringraj and Musta into the scalp, relieving dryness and leaving it comfortable and well moistened.
  • Supports natural hair colour: Cooling botanicals in the blend are traditionally used to keep Bhrajaka Pitta at the scalp in balance.
  • Calms and grounds: Brahmi, Ela and Taruni give the oil its quietening character, which is why head massage is favoured in the evening.
  • Detangles and softens: Drawn through the lengths before washing, the Taila smooths dry, brittle-feeling hair and eases combing.

100% natural, herbally infused Taila. No artificial scents or perfumes, no chemical preservatives, no added colours, and no animal-derived ingredients.

All Prana Ayurveda herbs are sourced from select wild regions of India, where they naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents.

Suggested Use

Work a generous amount of oil into the scalp with the fingertips, then draw the remainder through the length of the hair. Leave it in for at least thirty minutes, or overnight for deeper conditioning, then wash out with a gentle shampoo, or use as guided by your Ayurvedic practitioner. For dosage and duration suited to your constitution (Prakriti), consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.

  • Prepared by traditional Taila infusion, with the herbs slowly steeped into the Sesame base rather than blended with synthetic carriers.

  • Non-GMO.
  • Sustainably sourced.

  • The oil is cooling and grounding, well suited to Vata and Pitta constitutions; those of a strongly Kapha constitution may prefer to oil the scalp less frequently.
  • Storage: keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and out of the reach of children.
  • Manufactured in WHO GMP-certified facilities, every Prana Ayurveda formulation honors classical Ayurvedic wisdom while meeting modern quality and safety standards.

Additional Information

The word Taila is also written Tailam or Thailam in English sources; all are transliterations of the same Sanskrit term for a herbal oil. Amalaki is widely sold as Amla or Amlaki, and Bhringraj as Bhringaraja or Bhringaraj. This is a proprietary Prana Ayurveda blend rather than a classical text formula, so the herb combination is unique to this brand.
