Ashoka Tablets hold the bark of Saraca asoca, the tree whose Sanskrit name means remover of sorrow and which Ayurveda calls the companion of women. Each 500mg tablet is pure Ashoka bark. The energetics are Kashaya and Tikta rasa (astringent and bitter), Sheeta virya (cooling) and Katu vipaka, making it balancing for Pitta and Kapha. Long associated in Indian tradition with the Ramayana and with the birth of the Buddha, Ashoka remains the classical herb of Stri Roga care.
Ayurvedic Significance
Ashoka works chiefly on Artavavaha Srotas, the channels governing the monthly cycle, and on Rakta Dhatu. Its cooling, astringent quality settles excess Pitta seated in the blood and the lower abdomen, which classical practitioners regard as the root of an unsettled cycle. As a Rasayana for the female reproductive tissue, it is said to strengthen Garbhashaya and nourish Rasa Dhatu, supporting the steadiness of Apana Vata that governs downward flow. Ashoka is often paired with Shatavari when Ojas and overall vitality also need building.
Key Benefits
- Classical women's tonic: Ayurveda's cardinal Stri Rasayana, traditionally used across every stage of a woman's life.
- Monthly comfort: The cooling astringent action is traditionally used to support ease and steadiness through the monthly cycle.
- Regular, healthy flow: Supports a settled rhythm in Artavavaha Srotas and a normal, healthy menstrual flow.
- Uterine tissue nourishment: Valued as a rejuvenative for the muscles and lining of the Garbhashaya.
- Calm and balance: Soothing to the nerves and to Pitta, helping the mind stay even through the cycle.
Ingredients
Each 500 mg tablet contains — Ashoka (Saraca asoca), prepared using a combination of whole herb powder and standardized extract for a balanced formulation. The tablets are 100% natural and plant-based, produced without using any fillers, binders, or artificial additives.
All Prana Ayurveda herbs are sourced from select wild regions of India, where they naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents.
Suggested Use
The traditional serving is two tablets twice daily. Warm water is the everyday Anupana; warm milk deepens the nourishing effect and suits those seeking a more building action. Morning and evening after food are the preferred timings. Shatavari is the usual companion formulation when broader rejuvenation is wanted. Additional Information
Ashoka is also written Asoka, Ashok, Ashoka Chaal and Sita Ashok, and is known regionally as Asogam and Ashopalav. Older sources sometimes list the botanical name as Saraca indica; the accepted name today is Saraca asoca, and both refer to the same tree. Only the bark of this medium-sized evergreen is used, which is why labels may read Ashoka Chaal.
