GYMNEMA PLUS (Gluco Vedam) is built around Meshashringi, standardized Gymnema leaf, with ten supporting botanicals from the Prana Ayurveda Vedam line. Classical Ayurveda knew this herb well: its Sanskrit name is traditionally rendered “sugar destroyer”, a nod to the way chewing the fresh leaf briefly flattens the taste of sweetness on the tongue. Sapthachakra, Vijayasara, Karavellaka, Jambu and Methi join it, alongside purified Shilajit and Triphala, in an uncoated binder-free tablet.
Ayurvedic Significance
Ayurveda reads sweet metabolism through Kapha and Meda Dhatu. When Agni at the tissue level is sluggish, the sweet taste is not fully transformed, Ama gathers, and the Medovaha Srotas grow heavy. Meshashringi is classified as Kashaya and Tikta in Rasa, Ushna in Virya, and stands among the classical Kapha-Medohara herbs. Vijayasara and Sapthachakra were used the same way in the Nighantus. Triphala and Methi lend Deepana and Pachana action, so the formulation works on Agni as much as on Meda.
Key Benefits
- Supports healthy glucose metabolism — Meshashringi leaf, standardized to 40%, is the herb Ayurveda turns to first where the sweet taste is concerned.
- Supports glucose levels already within a normal range — Vijayasara heartwood and Sapthachakra stem have long been used in this context in traditional practice.
- Supports Kapha and Meda balance — Karavellaka, Nimba and Methi are bitter and astringent herbs used to keep Kapha and the fat tissue in balance.
- Supports healthy sweet metabolism and steady Agni — Triphala and Guduchi support digestion and regular elimination, so nourishment is absorbed cleanly and Ama does not settle.
- Nourishes at the tissue level — purified Shilajit, valued as a Yogavahi, helps carry the other herbs deeper into the Dhatus.
Ingredients
Each 1050mg tablet contains — Meshashringi extract (Gymnema sylvestre) leaf, standardized to 40%; Sapthachakra (Salacia reticulata) stem; Karavellaka (Momordica charantia) fruit; Vijayasara (Pterocarpus marsupium) heartwood; Shilajit extract (mineral pitch) purified; Jambu (Syzygium cumini) seed; and powders of Methi (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seed, Triphala extract — a blend of Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) fruit, Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) fruit and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) fruit — Nimba (Azadirachta indica) leaf, and Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) stem. Formulated according to the traditional principles of Ayurveda.
All Prana Ayurveda herbs are sourced from select wild regions of India, where they naturally develop higher concentrations of active constituents.
Suggested Use
The traditional serving is one tablet twice daily, taken before meals with warm water. Warm water is the preferred Anupana here, since it suits the light, drying quality the formulation is built on. Practitioners often pair it with a Kapha-pacifying diet and regular movement. For dosage and duration suited to your constitution (Prakriti), consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.

Additional Information
Meshashringi is also written Gurmar, Gudmar or Gymnema, and Sapthachakra appears as Saptrangi or Salacia; Karavellaka is the bitter gourd known as Karela. These are regional names and transliterations for the same botanicals. Gluco Vedam is a proprietary Prana Ayurveda formulation from the Vedam line, composed on classical principles rather than drawn from a single classical text.
