Prepared in milk and white sandalwood, this oil is a special formulation of nine herbs that cools and refreshes the skin of Pitta constitutions. Pitta constitutions can be particularly sensitive to environmental irritants and prone to inflammation, rashes, and blemishes. This oil permeates the skin with its cooling and cleansing effects and reaches deep into the blood to restore balance to an aggravated pitta. Pitta principally resides in the blood, and is responsible for the health of the skin and hair. Balanced pitta will manifest as warm and radiant skin and lush richly colored hair.

This blend of herbs centers around three primary pitta balancing herbs, which are Brahmi, Manjishta, and Guduchi. Brahmi is bitter and cooling in effect. The bitterness is cleansing to the tissues and revitalizing to the blood and nerves. The cooling helps to dispel accumulated heat in the blood and irritated areas of the skin, relaxing them and so balancing the stimulation while facilitating the cleansing actions.

Manjishta is also bitter, but more sweet and cooling in effect. It directs its effects at the blood, plasma, and muscles, and is cleansing to these tissues, but also rejuvenating and nourishing. It is perhaps one of the best blood purifying herbs in ayurvedic medicine, and it works to balance all blood related functions, from the liver, spleen, and heart, deep into the marrow and out to the skin. It increases blood flow and helps heal damaged tissue, restoring natural color and relieving inflammation. In this blend it is joined with licorice which augments its healing effects for rashes and burns.

Though Guduchi is heating its heating effects are not aggravating to pitta. Its heating energy is directed at the disintegration and expulsion of ama, accumulated toxins, from the body. It is balancing to all doshas and a good general tonic. Its anti-inflammatory and immune supportive effects make it great for topical applications for a wide variety of skin conditions.

These three are supported by a handful of other herbs which serve to augment their cooling and blood purifying effects while providing additional calming and mildly sedating effects. As many pitta imbalances both encourage and are encouraged by emotions of anger, fear, and frustration, the calming and releasing of these emotions is essential to thorough treatment of the imbalance. Lavender and Passionflower are specifically included for this reason. Lavender is cooling and nourishing to the body and also cleansing to the blood. However, it also has a grounding and very relaxing aroma that calms the mind and the nerves. Passionflower is also very aromatic, but is a mild local analgesic that temporarily relieves pain and helps the body to relax further and accept the healing work of this oil.

This potent combination of herbs is provided in a blend of milk and white sandalwood oil which are excellent vehicles for the treatment of the blood and pitta imbalance. Milk is cooling and nourishing to the whole body, and delivers these herbs directly to the blood, and consequently it augments their cooling and regenerative effects. White sandalwood cools and calms the entire body and mind, spreading its influence throughout the circulatory and nervous systems. It is anti-inflammatory and cleansing to the blood, and a great medium for any external pitta treatment. It provides a stable and cool foundation for this blend of herbs to work most effectively and harmoniously upon the pitta of the body.

This combination of herbs in a base of milk and sandalwood oil is cooling and cleansing to the pitta constitution. It is great for the treatment of dry, irritated, or inflamed skin. It soothes and softens the skin, restoring healthy tone and complexion, while calming the mind and nerves, aiding in complete relaxation. Because pitta imbalance can often manifest as stress and agitation this oil is great for a thorough and relaxing massage treatment, intended both to heal the skin and ease the heart.

About Gopala Ayurveda:

The Hindi meaning Gopala is 'The Nurturer of the Cow'. The cow is an auspicious blessing from Mother Earth for the good of all humankind. They who care for the blessings which our Mother has given us, care for the Mother herself. It is through this care that the bountiful provision which is our inheritance is enjoyed, preserved and multiplied for ourselves, our children and generations to come. This is our deepest desire and purpose: that all humanity may have life and have it more fully. Our name in every way reflects this desire and the means by which we propose to pursue it. It is for this reason that we use only 100% organically grown, harvested, and processed herbs in our products, support sustainable economics, and endeavor to continue the millennia old tradition of natural and holistic science.

The roots of Gopala Ayurveda reach deep into the rich and ancient naturopathic tradition of Ayurveda. Utilizing the wisdom of this four thousand year old science with the technological potential of modern science we render these ancient formulations in a potent form, all the while maintaining faithful adherence to the formulae and therapies of the ancient texts. To this end, we have spearheaded research to develop Ayurveda's vast herbal tradition into a comprehensive range of products to support healthiest and longest lives for our customers. These products have been met with warm reception in medical communities all over the world, and continue to serve the personal and healthcare needs of all parts of humanity.

Gopala is a pioneer in purely organic ayurvedic supplements, herbs, and oils. We promote healthy foods and nutritional products, and despite utilizing the benefits of modern science and technology, we train a strict eye on all stages of development and processing to be sure that our products do not suffer contact with any toxic or synthetic chemicals. Since the birth of this project, we have focused on the development of safe and effective remedies that will help people lead richer and healthier lives.

Gopala is not simply organic, which means to be free from any chemicals, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, artificial additives, preservatives, and heavy metals, but we are 100% Certified Organic, meaning that the customer has the added security of the USDA regulatory action which requires that all ingredients in all products be traceable through their processing history and to the place of origin. Consequently, the consumer may know both exactly where and when each herb came from and the circumstances surrounding this journey to their hands. Gopala is unique in this regard. Other manufacturers, having claimed proprietary rights to ancient formulae have taken the liberties of enhancing these revered concoctions with preservatives, synthetic substitutes, and more. We, however, continue this venerable tradition as it has been maintained for thousands of years, in the sole interest of a whole and healthy life.
