Clove Powder (Certified Organic)
Clove is pungent and heating, and its vipaka (post digestive taste) is sweet. Its pungency increases pitta, but decreases vata and kapha. It is good digestive stimulant and acts on a sinus and bronchial congestion.
1. For cold or cough, try 1 teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of clove, 2 or 3 times a day.
2. For indigestion and low appetite, try 1 pinch of clove powder, ¼ teaspoon trikatu and 1 teaspoon of honey 5 minutes before food.
3. Hoarseness of voice can be helped by a pinch of clove and cardamom powder, ½ teaspoon ground licorice root and 1 teaspoon of honey mixed well together and eaten slowly.
4. For diarrhea, a pinch each of clove, saffron and nutmeg powders mixed into ½ cup of yogurt and taken twice a day, will help.
5. When you have a bad toothache, try a drop of clove oil on the tooth.
